Chana Chaat:
By the way, there is no specific season for Chana Chaat across Pakistan, it is available in every season, however, its presence is mandatory during Iftar in Ramadan.Whether iftar is done at home or in any other place, Chana Chaat is mandatory.
The main character in chana chaat is Kabuli chickpeas, the name of which brings to mind the recent tension between Islamabad and Kabul, but aside from this conflict, Kabuli chickpeas are found in large quantities on Pakistani soil.
Chickpeas are also historically disputed, they have been found in Europe and Asia for the past 800 or 1,000 years, and are widely cultivated in both regions, although some archaeologists believe they originated in the Mediterranean, Persia, and the Mediterranean. It is called the food of Afghanistan.
But apart from this discussion, the chaat made by Channu is very tasty and chewy, which makes you want to eat it again and again after eating it.
Ingredients of Chana Chaat:
- Soak 2 cups of chickpeas in 5 cups of water for 12 hours before making the chaat, and add half a tablespoon of baking soda.
- 2 cucumbers
- 2 tomatoes
- Molly a pau
- One red pepper chopped
- One red onion
- Coriander 1 tbsp Olive oil 6 tbsp
- Lemon juice 3 tbsp
- Half a cup of apple cider vinegar
- One tablespoon of garlic
- A tablespoon of finely ground sugar
- A tablespoon of finely ground cardamom
- Ground spices half a tablespoon
- A tablespoon of ground cumin
- Yogurt (as per your choice)
- Salt and ground black pepper to taste
Recipe:
Boil the chickpeas in a pot until they foam and become soft, then remove them from the water and set aside to cool.
Then chop the cucumber, tomato, onion, radish and coriander and lightly coat or mix them vigorously to make a salad.
Then add olive oil, lemon juice, vinegar, garlic and powdered sugar.
Mix the cardamom, cumin, salt, and all other spices into the chickpeas, then cook the chickpeas and spices in a pot with a tablespoon of olive oil.
After a while, take out the chickpeas and place them on one side of the plate, on the other side, place the prepared salad.
If you have prepared raita with the help of curd, add black pepper and salt to taste and serve it with chaat to make your Iftar delicious.
